Не могу поставить драйвера для модема Motorola SM56 под Windows XP. Просто решил переустановить поверх ОС, и модем больше не работает. При установке дров пишет "Модем не удалось установить".

Решение — переустановка с нуля операционки. Как вариант можно попытаться переставить модем в другой слот, где-то слышал, что может помочь.
Все дело в том, что Моторола не гарантирует работу модема в ХР. И если он работает — тебе повезло (на чистой операционке всем везет). А поддержка твоего модема давным-давно прекращена, и все его проблемы Моторолу не интересуют. Хорошее же у нее отношение к клиентам.
Вот кусок из описания драйверов (я их уже кидал в марте 2002 года сюда (когда эха еще была на яхе) и 6 мая 2003 года). Из всего этого больше всего мне понравилась строчка These drivers are for use at your own risk and include no direct warranty or bundled application support from Motorola. О чем можно после этого говорить?

SM56 Software Modem Archives

As of July 2001, Motorola has exited the software modem business. Effective immediately, Motorola is discontinuing all soft modem products and future development.
To download drivers for your SM56 Software Modem, follow the links to the appropriate product pages below. If you require additional instructions for downloading and applying drivers, download the Document «SM56 Software Modem Driver Identification and Installation (SM56_Drivers)" from the product pages.
Please download the Windows 2000 driver for use with new, clean installs of Windows XP. Note that the Windows 2000 driver will NOT function properly with upgrades from another OS to Windows XP. Also, once loaded in Windows XP, the SM56 driver cannot be further updated.
The Linux driver has been tested only with Red Hat 7.1, which requires a Linux kernel V2.4 and is not backwardly compatible with V2.2. This driver supports AMR (Intel chipset only), PCI I, and PCI II hardware platforms. System requirements are otherwise the same as for PCI modems.
Please note, also that there is no available V.92 upgrade for any operating system.
